Steam Increases Concurrent Players Record - Best Video Gaming News 2021

It is hardly been a couple of days into the new year 2021 and Steam has smashed all previous records of concurrent players.

Concurrent Users

The mighty figure of 25M concurrent players is now a part of history as Steam has surpassed this figure as the new year kick starts. The exact figure of concurrent users reported by SteamDB on 2nd January 2021 was 25,415,080. This means that more people than ever are playing PC games on Steam.

Thanks to the free games like CS: GO, DOTA 2, and PUBG which saw one million-plus, 700k, and 400k players respectively. Single-player games also played their parts like Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley, both these games contributed to the top 10 along with ever-favorite GTA V and Rust.

Player Record

Though the concurrent player record was broken the in-game player\’s number didn’t manage to crack the record set in the March of 2020. There were almost 8.1 million in-game players in March while January managed 7.4 million player in-game.

New Records

By the looks of it, the company’s record-shattering frenzy isn’t going to end anytime soon and 2021 will witness more new records. It seems that it isn’t farther when the streaming company will break the record of concurrent and in-game players with something like 50 million and 10 million respectively.

With the new strand of COVID 19, 2021 will be a year where people will stay indoors the majority of the time. This means more time for gaming and more time on Steam. I hope we don’t jinx it for Steam but the stats look promising at the moment.
